Dimetre Chiparus was born in Rumania, but worked in Paris in the 1920's. He based his works on the theatre and the ballet, especially dancers from 'The Ballet Russe'. His figures have long, slender arms and legs and well-proportioned bodies, for him 'the perfect woman'.
